How to Define Touch Zones in the Elo Windows Driver

This utility allows you to define specific areas, or “touch zones,” on a display where touch is either enabled or disabled. This is useful for creating non-interactive sections on a kiosk or touch display. You can define a maximum of 64 unique zones for a single touchscreen connected to an Elo — Now part of Zebra Technologies device.

How to Define a Touch Zone

1. Click the Define Touch Zones button. This will open two separate dialog boxes:

   • The primary dialog box, titled EloTouchZones, provides options for setting, testing, and deleting zones.
   • A secondary, untitled dialog box represents the new touch zone. You can drag this box to any connected touch screen and adjust its size and position.

   

2. In the EloTouchZones dialog box, specify whether touch will be enabled inside or outside the defined area.
3. Once the zone is positioned and sized correctly, click Save Zone in the EloTouchZones dialog box to save the configuration.
   

How to Test Touch Zones

1. Click the Test All Zones button in the EloTouchZones dialog box.
2. This will initiate a 15-second test mode where you can interact with the screen to verify your zone configuration. During this period, the EloTouchZones dialog box will be temporarily disabled.
3. After 15 seconds, the test mode will automatically exit, and you can resume defining or removing zones.

How to Define Additional Zones

1. Drag the untitled zone box to a new position on the desired display and adjust its size.
2. Click Save Zone in the EloTouchZones dialog box. Previously defined touch zones will appear as flashing, dashed rectangles for reference.

How to Delete Existing Zones

1. To remove a single zone: In the "Remove Zones" section, select the Selected Zone radio button, choose the unwanted zone number from the list box, and click Remove.
2. To remove all zones: To delete all configured zones and re-enable touch across the entire desktop, select the All Zones radio button and click Remove.
