This article explains how to flash the BIOS on X-Series Rev. A units with the H81 BIOS
The below steps describe how to flash the BIOS on an Elo X-Series Rev. A unit which is equipped with the H81 BIOS.
1. Create a bootable USB flash drive
a. Flash drive should be at least 512MB or larger
b. Download latest Rufus utility from here: https://rufus.ie/
c. This procedure uses Rufus version 3.11
d. Run Rufus and create the Bootable USB Flash Drive.
ii. Select DOWNLOAD in the drop down arrow
iii. Leave Partition scheme MBR
iv. Target system should be BIOS (or UEFI-CSM)
v. File system should be FAT (Default)
vi. Select Quick format
vii. Select Create extended label and icon files
viii. Choose Start to create the Bootable USB Flash Drive
e. When the warning message appears, select OK to continue
f. When formatting is finished you will see READY in the Status bar. Select Close to close the utility.
g. Using Windows file explorer, open the USB Flash Drive; it should look like below:
h. Download the correct BIOS firmware file for your Elo product from the Elo website. This procedure is being demonstrated on an ESY15X3-2UWA-1-MT-ZB-4G-3H-W7-64-BK, which is a 15X3 Rev. A unit. The correct BIOS firmware file for this unit is SA20V130H81.zip do not use this file on your Elo product unless you have the exact same unit as we are using in this demonstration.
i. Unzip the firmware file by right clicking and choosing โextract all.โ
j. Extract to the newly created USB flash drive.
ii. See example below of contents of the USB Flash Drive after firmware files have been extracted.
2. Insert the USB Flash Drive into a USB port on the Elo AIO computer.
3. Connect a physical keyboard to the Elo AIO computer and start the computer.
4. Press Ctrl + F2 on the keyboard during bootup to enter the Admin BIOS โ when prompted for password, enter: eloelo
5. Go to the Advanced Tab and enter the PCH-FW Configuration section.
6. Enter the Firmware Update Configuration and change Me FW Image Re-Flash to Enabled
7. Navigate to the BOOT section and set the USB Flash Drive as your 1st Boot Device
8. Navigate to the Save & Exit section and choose Save Changes and Exit
9. Computer should now boot up to the below DOS screen.
10. At the C:\ prompt, type in dir to see all files in the directory.
11. At the C:\ prompt, type in FLASHH81.BAT (your .bat file may be different depending on which product you are updating. Just type in whichever file show BAT as the file extension)
12. The BIOS firmware update will then begin running. Be patient, the update should only take a few minutes to complete. DO NOT INTERRUPT THE UPDATE OR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR TO COMPUTER!!!
13. When update is finished you will see the WARNING : System must power-off to have the changes take effect!
b. Remove the power cord for 20-seconds, then reconnect power and startup computer.
c. The BIOS Firmware Update is now complete. You can go into the BIOS and see the new Project Version number
