This article provides steps describe how to enable Wake On Lan (WOL) on the EloPOS and Windows I-Series 2.0 AIO touchcomputers.
1. Enter into the BIOS of the EloPOS or Elo i-Series 2.0 with Windows touchcomputer by tapping on the Setup icon in upper right corner of screen as computer is booting.
- Alternatively, you can connect a physical USB keyboard and tap the DEL key during startup to enter the BIOS.
2. Navigate to: Advanced -- Power Management Setup -- Resume By PME and choose Enabled
3. Save changes and exit the BIOS
4. Boot into Windows, click on the Start button and type in Device Manager and then hit ENTER
5. In Device Manager, navigate to Network adapters and open Ethernet (LAN) connection.
6. Go to the Advanced tab and enable the following options:
- Wake on Magic Packet
- Wake on Pattern Match
7. Go to the Power Management tab and enable the following options:
- Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power
- Allow this device to wake the computer
- Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer
8. To test functionality, download WakeMeOnLan on a different computer and run the utility.
9. In the WakeMeOnLan utility, click on File and choose Start Scanning (this will scan all available devices)
10. Find your Elo device in the list, right-click and choose Wake up selected computers
11. A dialog box will appear and ask; Do you want to wake up the selected computer? Choose Yes
- Assuming your Elo device is in sleep or hibernate mode, it should now wake up
NOTE: Wake On Lan (WOL) is just as it sounds - it "wakes" the computer up. It will not startup a computer from a complete OFF state (G3). Wake on Lan only works if the computer is in Sleep (G1) or Hibernate (G2) power states. If you are needing to enable PXE Boot (Boot on Lan), see How do I enable PXE (Boot on Lan) on my EloPOS or Windows I-Series 2.0 device?
