Windows XP: Pre-Installation and Silent Installation Limitations for Touch Drivers
This article explains the limitations and required workarounds for pre-installing or silently installing touch drivers from Elo — Now part of Zebra Technologies on Windows XP systems.
Important Warning: Driver packages 6.9.24 and newer do not natively support pre-installation or silent installation on Windows XP. During a standard installation, you must manually acknowledge and dismiss all Microsoft driver signature warnings before the process can successfully complete. Additionally, the driver must be reinstalled every time a new touch device is physically connected to the system.
How to Enable Silent Installation
Silent installation on Windows XP is only possible if Driver Signing enforcement is disabled. To bypass the signature prompts, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Control Panel.
- Open System.
- Select the Hardware tab.
- Click on Driver Signing.
- Select the Ignore option and apply the changes.
