Configuring "Beep on Touch" Driver Defaults via EloOptions.ini & EloDriverDefaults

"Beep on Touch" is a Windows touch driver feature that generates an audible confirmation chime whenever a user contacts the touchscreen surface. Administrators can customize or completely disable touch beep settings across an enterprise deployment by modifying EloOptions.ini and applying defaults via the EloDriverDefaults.exe console utility.

Supported Beep Sound Sources

• External Speaker / Sound Card: Routes the touch tone through standard Windows audio output devices. Enabling "Use custom sound file" allows administrators to specify a custom .wav sound file.
• Motherboard Beeper: Directs audio feedback through the internal system BIOS / motherboard piezoelectric buzzer. When selected, tone frequency (pitch) and duration can be adjusted independently.

EloOptions.ini Beep Parameter Values

Under the [Device Default] section of EloOptions.ini, set the beep behavior using the numerical values below:

Step-by-Step Configuration Procedure

1. Open a text editor (such as Notepad) with administrative privileges (right-click > Run as administrator).
2. Open the driver configuration file located at:
   C:\Program Files\Elo Touch Systems\EloOptions.ini
3. Locate the [Device Default] section and update the beep mode key to your desired value (e.g., set to 0 to disable beep on all newly connected monitors).
4. Save and close the file.

5. Open an administrative Command Prompt, navigate to C:\Program Files\Elo Touch Systems\, and execute:

   EloDriverDefaults.exe
