This article defines CEC and what CEC capable means on an Elo monitor
Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) is a feature of HDMI, and not all computer monitors support CEC. However, most Elo IDS, Open Frame, and desktop monitors do support CEC over HDMI. If a computer monitor supports CEC, then it can be controlled remotely by other devices connected through HDMI.
When a device, such as a computer or a media player, is connected to a CEC-enabled monitor, the computer can recognize the monitor and its capabilities. The monitor can then be controlled from the device to receive commands to perform available functions in the monitor such as on/off, volume, video source, etc. See our knowledge article, 5553L, 6553L IDS Monitor CEC Commands, for an example of how CEC is used on Elo monitors.
