This article explains how to install an Operating System (OS) on an NO OS EloPOS or Windows I-Series 2.0 device
This Tech Bulletin describes how to install an Operating System on a No OS EloPOS or Windows I-Series 2.0 device.
Elo’s new EloPOS and Windows i-Series 2.0 devices come in different configurations. One configuration is sold with no operating system (NO OS). These devices are oriented to allow the customer to install their own Windows image or use any Linux distro. In order to accomplish that, this tech bulletin describes necessary steps.

1. If a USB pen drive will be used to boot, please make sure that the device has the settings as UEFI device.

1. If a USB pen drive will be used to boot, please make sure that the device has the settings as UEFI device.
a. Using rufus to create the image will require the following fields set to cover UEFI requirements (Legacy boot will not work on the new units).
2. Once created, make sure to use the appropriate USB port on the Elo POS or I-series. (If the USB pen drive is 3.0, only insert the USB pen drive into the 3.0 ports, otherwise the drive may not be recognized).
a. Below is an example where to locate the 2.0/3.0 USB ports on an Elo POS:
3. Once the USB pen drive is plugged in, start the unit and select to access the USB device, either from the BBS menu or the BIOS settings
4. If the USB UEFI does not show on the menu, make sure you have the appropriate settings on the BIOS as shown below.
a. From the Boot Menu select “Boot Option #1” click enter and then click to select the appropriate EUFI device
b. Additionally, the following settings are recommended to be checked before to start the uploading of the new image
• Advanced/SATA Configuration/SATA Mode Selection: (select AHCI)
5. From the Advanced/USB Configuration Menu, check that the Legacy USB Support shows “Enabled”
a. Once reviewed the previous settings, save the changes and exit from the BIOS and let the Boot process use the USB pen drive or force it touching the BBS option during the Flash screen to obtain the image on the step 3.
