This article explains how to manually uninstall Windows updates
Occasionaly, Microsoft will send out a Windows update which will cause issues with peripherals such as; touchscreens, mice, keyboards, receipt printers, cash drawers, scales, barcode scanners, magnetic stripe readers, etc. Sometimes the only work-around to get these peripherals to work is by removing the Windows update that caused the issue. To do that, you will have to manually uninstall the update - see below for two different methods for removing Windows updates.
Method #1 Removing Through Windows Update History
1. Type "View your update history" in the Windows 10 search box and select it from the list that appears.

3. Select the Update you want to uninstall and click on the Uninstall button at the top. If no Uninstall button appears, you will need to try Method #2 Uninstalling from Admin Windows PowerShell which is further down in this article.
4. Choose Yes when prompted
5. Choose Restart Now when prompted - uninstall is complete once computer starts back up.
Method #2 Uninstalling from Admin Windows PowerShell
If Method #1 did not work, you can try uninstalling from an Admin Windows PowerShell, see steps below:
1. Open an Admin Windows PowerShell by right-clicking on the Windows Start button and choose Windows PowerShell (Admin) from the list.
2. In the Command Prompt Window, type the following: wusa /uninstall /kb:[id] /quiet /forcerestart
- Example: wusa /uninstall /KB:5004237 /quiet /forcerestart
3. When completed, computer will restart and update will be uninstalled.
If you are unable to do either of the above methods, you will need to reach out to your IT dept. for assistance or work with a computer help team such as Best Buy Geek Squad .
