This article address the meaning of the numbers on the Microsoft COA label found on the back of Elo's Windows based AIO Touchcomputers.
Understanding the Numbers on the Windows® COA Sticker
Elo devices that ship with a Windows Operating Systems have a Microsoft Certificate of Authenticity (COA) sticker on the chassis. This label confirms the device is licensed for Windows and includes printed identification numbers.
What the Numbers Mean
Example COA:
Windows® 11 IoT Ent LTSC 2024 Entry
02219-171-833-141
X23-718221. Product ID – 02219-171-833-141
This is a Product ID (PID). It identifies the Windows edition, licensing channel, and manufacturing batch. It is not the activation key.
The PID is split into four sections:
| Section | Example | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| AAAAA | 02219 |
Product Code — Identifies the Windows edition and license family. 02219 = Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 Entry (OEM). |
| BBB | 171 |
OEM Channel Identifier — Indicates the licensing channel (OEM Embedded/IoT). |
| CCC | 833 |
License/Build Sequence — Internal Microsoft tracking for license series and build generation. |
| DDD | 141 |
OEM System Build Index — Tracks the manufacturing batch and preinstalled OS image. |
2. Part Number – X23-71822
This is Microsoft’s part number for the COA label itself.
X23 – Prefix for Microsoft OEM media and labels
71822 – Specific COA variant for Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 Entry
Where is the Activation Key?
The actual Windows product activation key is stored in the system’s UEFI firmware (MSDM table). When reinstalling the same edition of Windows, the key is read automatically, and the OS activates without manual entry.
