How to Access the On-Screen Keyboard When Touch Is Not Working.
If your touchscreen is not responding, you can still access the Windows On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) by connecting a temporary USB keyboard.
⚠️ Note: These steps apply to both Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Required Equipment
- USB keyboard
- Optional: USB mouse (if touch is unavailable)
Method 1: Keyboard Shortcut (Fastest Method)
- Connect any USB keyboard to the system.
- Boot into Windows.
- Press Windows Key + Ctrl + O.
The On-Screen Keyboard will launch immediately.
Method 2: Run Command
- Press Windows Key + R.
- Type osk.
- Press Enter.
The On-Screen Keyboard will open.
After the On-Screen Keyboard Opens
You may use a mouse to operate the On-Screen Keyboard if touch functionality is disabled.
Important: If touch is disabled in the system BIOS, Windows will not recognize the touchscreen. A physical USB keyboard is required to regain access and re-enable touch functionality in BIOS.
Next Steps
If touch functionality was disabled in BIOS, connect a USB keyboard, reboot the system, enter BIOS setup, and re-enable the internal touch controller.
