The article below describes the top five (5) reasons for no touch on a touch monitor and how to fix them.
If you are experiencing a no touch or inaccurate touch condition, please try these troubleshooting steps before determining a defective touch monitor.
1. Is the USB touch cable connected?
- The touchscreen communicates with the host computer through the USB touch cable - not the video cable. Please connect the USB touch cable and see if that solves the problem. See more here
2. Is there something sticking to the glass?
- If there is a sticker, label, sticky note, tape, plastic cover sheet, etc. sticking to the glass (even in the black border area around the edges) it will cause touch to stop working or to only work on part of the screen. This will also cause calibration issues. You must remove anything which is adhered to the glass, then clean off any sticky residue, then disconnect the power cable for 30-seconds and reconnect. 3. Is there an Elo touch driver installed?
- On Elo's IntelliTouch/IntelliTouch Plus (SAW) and AccuTouch (Resistive) monitors, a touch driver is required for proper operation, please visit the driver download page for the appropriate driver.
- On Elo's PCAP/TouchPro (Projected Capacitive) and Infrared (IR) monitors, no touch driver is needed. If you have installed one, please uninstall it, reboot the system, and see if that solves the problem.
4. Is the correct Elo touch driver installed?
- The best option is to always use the very latest Elo touch driver. Older touch drivers may not have support built in for our newer touch monitors and therefore will not function correctly. Please visit the driver download page for the latest touch driver.
5. Is a long cable, extender, KVM, or hub being used?
- Elo recommends using the standard 6-foot cable that comes with the touch monitor. Often long cables and anything else that is placed between the host computer and the touch monitor will cause issues. If you are having issues, please test the touch monitor only using the 6-foot cables and see if the problem is resolved, if so, then you need to work with the manufacturer of the device you are placing between the touch monitor and the computer.
