This article describes different methods to enable the On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) in a Windows 11 computer system
Please note, the OSK is part of the Microsoft® Windows Operating System and not provided by Elo Touch Systems. For assistance beyond what is provided below, please reach out to Microsoft.
Steps:
1. Enable the On-Screen Keyboard:
- Go to Settings by pressing Windows + I on your keyboard.
- Navigate to Accessibility Keyboard.
- Toggle the On-Screen Keyboard option to "On."
2. Enable the Touch Keyboard to Appear Automatically:
- Open Settings and go to Personalization Taskbar.
- Scroll down to Taskbar corner icons and enable Touch keyboard.
- The touch keyboard icon will now appear in the taskbar. When needed, click on it to open the on-screen keyboard manually.
3. Enable the On-Screen Keyboard for Touch Devices:
- Go to Settings Devices Typing.
- Under the Touch keyboard section, enable Show the touch keyboard when not in tablet mode and there's no keyboard attached.
4. Use the On-Screen Keyboard with a Shortcut:
- You can quickly access the on-screen keyboard by pressing Windows + Ctrl + O.
These settings will enable the on-screen keyboard to appear when a text field is selected, especially on devices that support touch input.
