This document describes the process to update touch controller firmware on the ET6553L using the eGalax software tool, MP600674. 

Some units can exhibit broken lines when drawing or dragging across screen. The problem can be intermittent and difficult to reproduce during testing. To remedy, all units with older revision controller firmware, version 07_T1, shall be updated to current revision 09 or later. 

 1.    Tools:

1.    PC with Windows OS (Windows 7/ Windows 10) 

2.    USB Type A to B cable 

3.    Touch Controller Firmware File - E131176 S/W,PCFG FILE,CTR-8351XX,ET6553L.(PCFG0056_v09.82HM100)

4.    Firmware loading tool - MP600674 TEST TOOL, PCAP TOUCH CONTROLLER, CTR-8351XX, FOR E555516 ET6553L (EGALAX software tool)

5.    USB thumb drive (optional) 

2.     Update procedure:

1.    Place folder MP600674 (EGALAX software tool) onto test computer

2.    Connect the PC to the monitor (via USB; device must be powered)

3.     Open folder named Test Tool_PCFG0056v09 

d. Double click the "eGalaxUpdate2.exe" to start the Update Process. 

Verify controller version 07_T1 and CRC is 0xF3D3.
 

e. Verify controller version 07_T1 and CRC is 0xF3D3.

1.    If yes proceed to the next step

2.    If version is 09 and CRC 05x59A7 , FW does not need to be updated. Unit can be returned to packaging. 

f. Click load image, then select the firmware file PCFG0056_v09.82HM100. Verify load image OK. 

g. Click Go!

1.    The program will display a series of screens. When complete verify the following:

1.    Firmware update Success, Version (09) and CRC ( 05x59A7) 

2.    If successful, close the program and continue to step H 

3.    If load is unsuccessful, repeat steps E-G 

h. Power cycle unit and perform standard touch function tests. If pass, power down unit and repackage.
