This article provides two methods for creating a bootable USB flash drive using an .iso image and using it to image or re-image an Elo AIO or ECM system.
Choose a Method
- Method 1: Use RUFUS (recommended for most users)
- Method 2: Manual format and ISO extraction
Method 1: Create Bootable USB Using RUFUS
Step 1: Create Bootable USB

Download RUFUS:
http://rufus.akeo.ie/ - Insert a USB flash drive (16GB or larger) into a Windows computer.

Open RUFUS and select your USB drive from the Device dropdown.

Click SELECT, choose your .iso file, and click Open.

When prompted, click OK.

Configure:
- File system: NTFS
- Volume label: as desired
Click START.
- Wait for completion (up to 30 minutes).

When status shows READY, click CLOSE and remove the USB drive.
Method 2: Manual Format and ISO Extraction
Step 1: Format USB Drive
- Insert a USB flash drive (16GB or larger) into a Windows computer.
- Open File Explorer and locate the USB drive.
- Right-click and select Format.

Configure:
- File system: NTFS
- Volume label: as desired
- Quick Format: enabled

Click Start.

Confirm data erase by clicking OK.

When complete, click OK.
Step 2: Extract ISO to USB
- Locate the .iso file on your computer.

Right-click the .iso file.

Use an ISO utility (example: PowerISO) and select Extract to….

Select the USB drive as the destination.

Wait for extraction to complete (up to 30 minutes).
- Close the utility and remove the USB drive.
Boot Elo Device from USB
- Insert the USB flash drive into the Elo AIO or ECM system.
- Power on the device.
- When the Setup icon appears in the upper-right corner, tap it to enter BIOS.

Navigate to the BOOT section and set the USB drive as the #1 boot device.
- Go to the Exit tab and select Save Changes and Exit.

When prompted, select OK.
Run Recovery Process

Select Install Recovery Solution.

Select Test Hardware.

After the test passes, click Start.

Confirm by selecting YES.
- Wait for recovery to complete (30–45 minutes).
Once complete, remove the USB flash drive. The system will be restored and ready for use.
