This article explains how to enable the on-screen keyboard to pop up whenever touching an open field in Windows 10

Click on the "Start" menu button located at the bottom left corner of the screen.

Click on the "Settings" gear icon.

Click on "Devices" in the Settings menu.

Click on "Typing" in the Devices menu.

Scroll down to the "Touch keyboard" section and toggle the switch under "Show the touch keyboard when not in tablet mode and there's no keyboard attached" to turn it on.
After enabling this setting, the on-screen keyboard will automatically appear whenever you touch an open field in Windows 10 that requires text input, such as a search bar or text box.
