This article explains why upgrading to the latest version of Windows 10 may not be possible
Elo offers OEM volume-licensed Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC operating systems. The Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) is specifically designed as a "fixed" system, meaning it does not support traditional version upgrades.
LTSC versions do not receive new features or major updates, including the latest build numbers. For example, Windows 10 LTSC systems running build version 1809 cannot be upgraded to subsequent builds like 22H2 or newer. These systems remain locked to their original build version for the duration of their lifecycle.
LTSC systems cannot be updated using the Windows 10 Update Assistant. Attempting to do so will result in an error.
Windows 10 LTSC is a specialized edition designed for environments where stability and long-term support are essential. Unlike the regular versions of Windows 10, which receive frequent feature updates, LTSC versions only receive security updates, bug fixes, and critical patches over an extended period, typically 10 years. This makes LTSC ideal for systems that demand high reliability and minimal changes, such as medical equipment, industrial systems, and ATMs. LTSC versions also exclude non-essential features like the Microsoft Store, Cortana, and many built-in apps to ensure minimal disruptions.
If you require a more recent Windows version than what is pre-installed on your system, you will need to purchase a new copy of Windows from Microsoft, which will include a separate license. The existing Elo OEM license does not allow for upgrading the operating system, as this is restricted by Microsoft.
